With pipe cleaners, you can easily craft the most delightful underwater animals. Discover how to make a little fish, a turtle, and a coral plant. Gather your materials and dive into your own creative underwater world!
1
Start by choosing a set of pipe cleaners in different colours. For each animal, pick the colours you want to use.
2
Take two yellow and one orange pipe cleaner, these will be the colours of your fish. Begin with one yellow pipe cleaner and roll it up tightly into a little ball, this will be the body.
3
Now take the second yellow pipe cleaner. Push one end into the ball and wrap the rest firmly around it. This makes the fish sturdier and gives it a nicer shape.
4
Gently press the ball into a slightly oval form so it looks more like a fish’s body.
5
Next, take the orange pipe cleaner and fold it in half to find the middle. Place this middle section around the yellow body and wrap it neatly.
6
On each side, bend a small piece outward to form the fish’s fins.
7
Twist the two ends of the orange pipe cleaner together firmly at the back of the body.
8
From the remaining ends, make a loop and twist it in the middle – this becomes the tail.
9
Finally, glue a wiggly eye on each side of the yellow body. And there you have it, your cheerful fish is ready!
10
For the turtle, you’ll need two green and one brown pipe cleaner. Start with the brown one. Fold over a section of about 2 cm and twist it tight, this is the beginning of the body.
11
Now bend a 2 cm leg to the left and another to the right. Twist them firmly in the middle so they stay in place. If you look closely, it now resembles a little plus sign.
12
Form a body of about 3.5 cm and then make two legs at the back.
13
From the remaining piece, shape a small tail. Fold it inward and twist it securely near the back legs. The base of the turtle’s body is now finished.
14
Time for the shell! Take a green pipe cleaner and roll it up into a spiral. Press it gently so it forms a slight dome, this will be the shell.
15
Insert the second green pipe cleaner from underneath the spiral and continue wrapping. This makes the shell larger and sturdier.
16
Now take the body and slide the head and tail through the bottom edge of the shell so everything fits neatly together.
17
Glue two wiggly eyes on the head and your adorable turtle is complete!
18
For a coral plant, you’ll need two green pipe cleaners. Fold the first one unevenly in half, so that one side is longer than the other.
19
Bend each end back towards the middle to create a loop, and twist it tight so the loops stay in place.
20
Press the loops flat against each other and bend them into a zigzag shape – it already looks a little like coral!
21
Repeat these steps with the second pipe cleaner. Once both are ready, twist them together at the middle. Gently open the top parts so it looks like the coral branches are spreading out.
22
Bend and shape the ends playfully until you’re happy with how it looks and your coral plant is finished!
