Make a Birthday Card with Border Punches

Make a Birthday Card with Border Punches

Create your own unique birthday card using cardstock, border punches, and texture paste. A fun DIY project for anyone who enjoys getting creative with paper!

1
Take a sheet of pink cardstock from the set and cut it in half at 6 inches. Use one half and score it along the long edge at 6 inches. This gives you a folded 6 x 6 inch card base. Set it aside for now.
2
Place a sheet of smooth white cardstock on your work surface and position the stencil on top. Use a palette knife to apply a thin, even layer of Astro Paste. Remove the stencil immediately after application and allow the paste to dry thoroughly.
3
Cut three strips measuring 0.8 x 5.5 inches (2 x 14 cm) from textured white cardstock. Use a different border punch on each strip for variation.
4
Select three shades of red or pink cardstock from the set and cut them into strips measuring 2.8 x 1.2 inches, 3.4 x 1.2 inches and 4.3 x 1.2 inches (7.2 x 3 cm, 8.6 x 3 cm, and 11 x 3 cm).
5
Layer the punched strips over the coloured ones, making sure the patterns align nicely at the ends.
6
Create candles using dark pink strips measuring 0.2 x 1.2 inches (0.5 x 3 cm). Punch out small white droplets to use as flames. Draw a cake stand on white paper and cut it out.
7
Assemble all the elements and trim any excess edges neatly.
8
Attach the stencilled background to the pink card base, then place the paper cake on top.
