Autumn crafting with kids: Mushrooms
With just paper, glue and scissors, you can enjoy a cheerful craft activity for children: making colourful mushrooms. Fun on a rainy afternoon and perfect as autumn decoration!

Start with sturdy white paper (cardstock). Cut strips of about 3.1 x 4.7 inches (8 x 12 cm). Score a fold line 0,8 inches (2 cm) from one long side.

Cut strips in different sizes to create mushrooms with both short and tall stems. The fold line should always be at 0.8 inches (2 cm).

Roll each strip into a tube, with the fold line at the bottom, and glue the ends together.

Once the glue is dry, cut small slits up to the 0.8 inches (2 cm) fold line. Fold the little flaps outwards.

For the caps, cut circles out of red paper using a circle cutter. Vary the size (3.1 to 4.7 inches / 8 to 12 cm in diameter).

Cut a small triangle from the circle, right to the centre.

Fold the circle into a cone-shaped cap and glue the edges in place. Attach the stem to the underside of the red cap.

Attach the stem to the underside of the red cap.

Punch or cut small white circles out of white paper to make spots.
