With pipe cleaners and a metal ring, you can easily craft a spooky spider’s web, complete with a spider inside. Perfect for a creative autumn or Halloween decoration!
1
Take a metal ring of 7.8 inches (20 cm) and a black pipe cleaner. Bend a small piece at the end and wrap the rest tightly around the bent end and the ring.
2
Leave a little piece sticking out, take a new pipe cleaner and bend one end as well. Wrap it firmly around both the ring and the sticking-out piece.
3
Repeat this until you’ve almost covered the whole ring.
4
With the last pipe cleaner, make a loop so the ring can be hung up, and twist the end securely around the ring.
5
Now use some extra black pipe cleaners to create the web. Attach the first one to the ring, wrap it around, and fasten it to the ring again halfway along the pipe cleaner.
6
Then wrap the end of the pipe cleaner once more around the ring. From this point, continue with a new pipe cleaner.
7
Keep working towards the centre. Each time, twist the pipe cleaner around the middle of the previous one so the web looks even, until you reach the centre.
8
Time to make the spider! Cut two black pipe cleaners in half so you have 4 pieces.
9
Place the 4 halves on top of each other and twist them once in the middle. This will give you 8 legs.
10
Wrap extra pipe cleaners around the centre to form the spider’s body.
11
Also wrap some pipe cleaners between the legs to give the body an oval shape and to spread the legs out naturally.
12
Bend the legs into shape and stick two googly eyes on the front.
13
Finally, attach the spider to the web by twisting two of its legs around one of the web strands.
