Macramé Christmas tree

Macramé Christmas tree

String your own macramé Christmas tree for an unique decoration in the tree, on a branch in front of the window or as a Christmas decoration on the table. For example, put a macramé tree on each plate for an extra festive effect. Add some punched out stars and you have a beautifully decorated table.

1
Cut a piece of macramé cord about 25 cm long, make a loop at the end and thread one bead onto the cord. We call this base the trunk of the Christmas tree.
2
Cut two pieces of cord, each about 2 metres long. Divide the length into ¼ on one side and ¾ on the other.
3
Then tie these to the trunk.
4
Place the trunk to the back and the two shorter cords - the inserts - to the front. Divide the two longest cords to the left and right. From now on we will call them working threads.
5
Lay the left-hand working thread over the insertion threads.
6
Then lay the right-hand working thread over the left-hand thread and pull it under the insertion threads. Pull the thread through the loop of the left-hand thread.
7
Now pull the knot tight.
8
Start with the right-hand working thread and lay it over the insertion threads.
9
Take the left-hand working thread, place it over the right-hand thread and pull the working thread under the insertion threads.
10
Pass the thread through the loop of the right-hand thread and pull the knot.
11
Repeat the steps 5 and 6 several times and finish with step 6. Thread a bead on the stem and pull it through the wires before tightening the knot.
12
As soon as the knot is pulled, the cord will form around the bead.
13
Each time repeat the steps 5 and 6 more often, adding steps 7 and 8 now and then to create a zigzag effect.
14
Slowly a Christmas tree is formed. Finish with step 8 when the cords are almost finished and make a knot under the tree to form a tassel.
15
Cut the end straight. Finally, comb out the threads of the tassel and your little tree is ready!
