Mod Podge Dimensional Magic

Mod Podge Dimensional Magic

Mod Podge Dimensional Magic: everything you need to know!

Read all about Mod Podge Dimensional Magic on this page. Mod Podge is an all-in-one glue, sealer and finish for decoupage and everyday crafts. When you compare it to the other Mod Podge types, Dimensional Magic has a very special formula. This hard-drying glue and topcoat in one offers many possibilities for your homemade craft projects. So what exactly is Mod Podge Dimensional Magic? What do you use it for? And what is the difference with epoxy resin? Scroll down to read all about Mod Podge Dimensional Magic!

What is Mod Podge Dimensional Magic?

Unlike most Mod Podge products, Dimensional Magic is not meant for decoupage. Mod Podge Dimensional Magic is a glue and varnish that creates an epoxy-like finish on any surface. If you like to finish your art and craft creations with a hard glossy layer, then Dimensional Magic is a must-have among your craft supplies. It's a little opaque when you apply it, but don't worry: it will dry crystal clear.

What can you do with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic?

Dimensional Magic is ideal for making and finishing (homemade) jewellery and accessories. Think of bracelets, rings, brooches, belt buckles and necklaces. Besides that, Dimensional Magic is also often used in card making to accentuate small surfaces. After all, sometimes you have projects that you just want to give that little bit extra by adding a layer of glaze. The three-dimensional effect adds the perfect finishing touch to your project.

How do you use Mod Podge Dimensional Magic?

Mod Podge Dimensional Magic is generally used for small projects. It’s very easy to apply thanks to the squeeze bottle and the handy nozzle. Especially when making cards, it's a piece of cake to add Dimensional Magic to details. You can also use this formula directly from the bottle. Turn the bottle carefully a few times, but try not to shake to avoid air bubbles. Any bubbles can easily be punctured with a pin. Apply the milky white liquid to your project and leave it to dry for 24 hours. It will then harden and become transparent - just like glass!

Dimensional Magic vs. Resin

Mod Podge Dimensional Magic is a water-based glue that gives your projects a glass-like finish. To be precise, it's a water-based acrylic product. This means that you can wash Dimensional Magic off your hands without any problems. You don’t have to wear a mask or gloves to apply it and the fumes aren’t toxic. And you don’t have to mix it but you can apply it directly to your project.

Resin, also called acrylic or epoxy, is a reactive polymer compound and a two-part process. Resin is thicker than Dimensional Magic and toxic. So always wear gloves when working with resin. After mixing, you must immediately apply the resin to your project. It dries to a thick, hard layer. Resin is waterproof and heat resistant and perfect for larger projects like worktops, tables and large trays.

Which types of Dimensional Magic are there?

Besides the transparent version, Dimensional Magic is also available with silver glitters, golden glitters and iridescent glitters.

On which surfaces can you use Dimensional Magic?

Mod Podge Dimensional Magic can be used on just about everything. From wood, tin, glass, plastic/acrylic, paper and foam sheets to polystyrene shapes, fabric, canvas, ceramics and metal. When in doubt, we always recommend doing a test first by applying some Dimensional Magic to a small piece. Give it enough time to dry to determine if the material is suitable for your project.

Want to get started with decoupage? Choose Mod Podge Matte to give decoupage projects a matte finish or Mod Podge Fabric for projects involving fabrics. Do you have an outdoor project? Then Mod Podge Outdoor is the best choice.

Does Dimensional Magic dry clear?

Yes, this product is transparent when dry, no matter what material you use it on. When you apply Mod Podge, it looks white. But don't worry, it becomes completely transparent once fully dried.
